- What does a "signed bookplate" mean?
This is a digitally-signed bookplate, delivered over the Internet. The bookplate is personalized for you with the name you requested and a personal message from the author. The author's standard pen-and-ink signature is reproduced on the bookplate.
The author signs the bookplate with his digital signature. Usually a digital signature is a long stream of random-looking text — on your bookplate, the signature is incorporated into the artwork. Your bookplate shows a pattern of light squares superimposed over the text and graphics. Each light square represents the digital bit "1," and a place where there is no light square represents the digial bit "0." This pattern of ones and zeros is the author's digital signature, and each and every bookplate is entirely unique.

- What does it cost?
The author does not charge for this service.
Your costs will be the costs of printing out the bookplate and pasting it into your book. Some people print out the bookplate using photo paper on their own printers, while other people prefer to bring the bookplate to a professional printer along with their other photos.
- How can they all be unique?
Each bookplate is unique because of the author's digital signaure, which appears as a pattern of light squares. Digital signatures are specifically designed to be unique to prevent forgery: there are about ten to the fourty-eighth different patterns — that's a 1 followed by fourty-eight zeros. There's no chance that your bookplate will have the same pattern as any other bookplate.
- Why do you need my name?
The author uses your first name (or another name you choose) to personalize your bookplate. If you don't provide a name, the author won't be able to provide this touch of personalization.
- What is your Privacy Policy?
We use your name (or the name you provide) to personalize the bookplate and your email address to notify you that the boookplate is ready. Your email address is also a unique ID for you to use when you pick up the bookplate.
We won't sell your email address to anyone else. Unless you opt-in to our newsletter, the only email you get from us should be about picking up your bookplate or in case there are any problems.
If you live in a country, state, city, or locality that imposes more stringent requirements on safeguarding personal information, this offer of a bookplate is void, and please do not request a bookplate.
- How does this technology work?
The technology is very straightforward. Starting with the template of the bookplate — the logo, basic text, and the author's signature — we add the personalized information approved by the author. We then take the author's digital signature of that personalized information, transform it to a pattern, and superimpose the pattern on the bookplate.
